Mechanical design, system behavior, and the measurements that connect them.

I’m a mechanical engineer, most interested in hardware where the mechanics interact with sensing and control. I want to understand not just whether a system works, but why it behaves the way it does—and how to measure that behavior.
I start with the mechanism and a model of the behavior that matters. Building and instrumenting a prototype gives me something to compare against that model. When the two disagree, I use the measurements to decide what to change in the design, the control approach, or my assumptions.
My interest in precision design and control broadened how I look at mechanical hardware. Studying robotics and control at Carnegie Mellon has built on that foundation, while keeping me close to the practical questions of how a system is made and tested.
